Doing God’s Will in Mexico

What do you get when you mix two teachers from the United States, 180 men and women from all across the country of Mexico, and a camp near Ixmiquilpan in Hidalgo, Mexico?

You get a few days of great food, lively discussion, and training in theology and creationism straight from the Word of God!

In the middle of August 2019, Don Johnson and Dr. Earl Parvin traveled to this camp and Bible Institute in the east-central region of Mexico with Books for Pastors for a 3-day conference. With young and old, pastors-in-training and experienced church leaders worshiping and studying the Bible together, God was certainly in the midst of the group, and He was glorified constantly.

Throughout the country of Mexico, about half of the population is made up of indigenous people groups, and this was reflected among these strongly Christian brothers and sisters. For Don and Dr. Parvin, it was a new experience to be with Christians representing the Totonac, Nahuatl, Zapotec, Otomi and Amuzgo tribes who all spoke Spanish as a second language. Seeing and hearing these people from different cultures worshiping and learning and serving together is the fulfillment of Psalm 133:1, which says, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!”

Don is making plans for a Spring, 2020 visit to southern Mexico to bring more teaching to these believers, and we would welcome your prayers for our preparations.
